Aloha, friends and partners! We at Roberts Hawaii are thrilled to share some electrifying news with you. We’ve recently expanded our fleet with the addition of five new electric buses. This includes three electric motorcoach buses and two electric school buses. Coupled with our existing electric school bus, our current electric vehicle (EV) fleet now totals six vehicles.

Our Partnership with the Diesel Replacement Rebate Program

This exciting development was made possible through the Diesel Replacement Rebate Program, a joint initiative by the Hawaii State Energy Office and the Hawaii Department of Health. Funded through the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust and the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act, the program aims to help local companies like us replace diesel vehicles with zero-emission alternatives.

First of Their Kind

The three electric motorcoaches are not just any buses; they’re the first MCI J4500 Charge EV motorcoaches to be used for tour operations nationwide. We’re proud to be leading the way in this significant milestone for the entire tourism industry.

Moreover, we are currently the only Hawaiʿi ground transportation provider with electric school buses. We’ve added two Thomas Jouley EV school buses to our fleet, setting a new standard for school transportation in the state.

At Roberts Hawaii, we’re dedicated to Mālama Hawaiʿi – caring for and protecting Hawaii. By embracing electric vehicles, we’re helping to preserve our beautiful islands for future generations.

While we acknowledge that our fleet still includes over 300 diesel vehicles, we see this as a journey towards sustainability. Each electric vehicle we add to our fleet represents progress. It’s about balancing the needs of our business with our commitment to the environment.

Electric vehicles play a crucial role in protecting Hawaii’s delicate ecosystem. By gradually transitioning to electric vehicles, we’re helping to protect our islands’ biodiversity and preserve our natural beauty for future generations.

Blessing Ceremony

We’re excited to share that a blessing ceremony for our new electric buses is scheduled for July 20, 2023. This ceremony will mark a significant milestone in our journey towards a greener future.

Conclusion
