Learn the story of fire goddess Pele. She lives in Halemaumau crater on the Big Island of Hawaii, but before she settled on that place as her home, she went from island to island—including Maui—with her magic digging stick, searching for the perfect spot. She brought with her land-creating lava, and created the Haleakala volcano while on Maui.
