The Gathering Place

Oahu, also known as the Gathering Place, is the most populated and developed of the Hawaiian Islands and is considered the center of Hawaii. Central Windward South Leeward North
The Heartland of Oahu
This landscape is dramatically different from other regions of the island. The inland of this fertile valley is home to quaint residential communities and small farms growing produce to support local restaurants. On the coast you’ll find Pearl Harbor, the famous cloverleaf-shaped bay where the Japanese attack of the US naval base propelled the United States into World War II – today Pearl Harbor represents US military dominance in the Pacific Rim.
Showcasing the Heights of Oahu
From Nuuanu Pali Lookout, gaze out over the island like King Kamehameha did in the 18th century after conquering Oahu. From the vantage point of this 1,186-foot cliff pass, observe the diverse topography of the Windward Side. The cooler, wetter weather provides the lush, fertile lands you see. Enjoy a great view of Kailua Beach where calm waters make the perfect place for a day of swimming or kayaking. After taking in the dramatic, sweeping views of the region, participate in some of its exciting activities at Kualoa Ranch and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
A World-Famous Beach and World-Class Ammenities
When thinking of Oahu, Waikiki Beach often comes to mind. Sunbathers can be found lounging on its golden sand while surfers gracefully ride the waves of its turquoise waters. A revitalization of Waikiki has led to a growth in number of fine dining, shopping and entertainment options. Spend a day on the beach then take an evening stroll down Kalakaua Avenue and explore the variety of restaurants, clubs and retail shops.
A Little-Known Region with Big Appeal
Get off the beaten track and discover the Leeward Coast of Oahu. While not a typical destination for visitors, it’s definitely worth the trip. The dry, sunny weather is perfect for many outdoor activities like hiking, whale watching or just lounging on the beach. This region is also where you can experience a great luau. Both Paradise Cove and Germaine’s Luau offer an exciting evening of dining and live entertainment.

Mention the North Shore of Oahu and giant, rolling waves and foaming coastlines usually come to mind; in essence, a surfer’s paradise. Of course the striking contrast between sea and sun and the dramatic, tumbling ocean are not to be missed. Just walking along these picturesque beaches is a thrill. There’s also a lot more of the North Shore for you to discover! You won’t want to miss the quaint, old plantation towns that have been reinvented as shopping and dining destinations. The North Shore’s famous shrimp trucks are also a fun way to sample the freshest shrimp around.
